Vintage Purple & Clear Murano-Style Art Glass Bird Sculpture

This is exactly why I love sourcing vintage. The clear glass, deep aubergine swirls and those dramatic wings make this little bird feel more like a piece of sculpture than a figurine. Put her on a stack of books, tuck her into a shelf, or let her have her own moment on a console.

DESCRIPTION

A striking vintage hand-formed art glass bird sculpture featuring crystal-clear glass layered with rich aubergine-purple accents and an wonderfully sculptural silhouette.

The bird is beautifully formed with an elongated clear glass beak, dimensional head and body, dramatically extended applied-glass wings and textured tail feathers. Deep plum and aubergine glass winds through the otherwise clear body, creating beautiful movement and color from every angle.

The bird rests upon an unusual clear glass pedestal base surrounded by rounded glass bubbles, adding another layer of texture and visual interest.

The overall design has the exuberant, organic quality associated with mid-century Italian and Murano art glass, making it an especially fun addition to a collection of vintage glass.
